A Commonwealth Trade Conference is to take place in Birmingham next month.
The half-day interactive session with representatives of India, Malta and Jamaica will focus on various sectors, with a particular focus on Healthcare, Motor Vehicle, Creative & Digital Entertainment, ICT and Higher Education. The Commonwealth presents enormous opportunities particularly from a shared values, legal structures and cultural similarities perspectives. Also, post-Brexit, with 1 billion potential consumers out there, the Midlands needs take advantage of these opportunities.
The keynote speaker will be Sir John Peace, Chairman of the Midlands Engine. Other speakers will include Keith Stokes-Smith, Chair of Birmingham Commonwealth Association, Waheed Nazir, Director of Planning & Regeneration at Birmingham City Council, the Jamaican High Commissioner and Andy Street, West Midlands’ Mayor.
