Statistically, domestic abuse is said to affect one in four women and one in six men in their lifetime. A topic that has for long failed to find a voice in the society, it is said to account for 16 per cent of all violent crime in the country, and yet, is the least likely to be reported to the authorities.
In support of victims of abuse, the National Congress of Gujarati Organisations UK has organised a discussion on the important and alarmingly increasing issue of domestic abuse, considering violence against both women and men. The event will see well known speakers in attendance. Support services will also be rendered on the day. To be held on February 10 at Shree Jalaram Jyot Mandir, from 3 to 5 pm, the seminar intends to raise awareness on domestic abuse along with the concerns raised by the community.
