About 150 wellwishers and supporters of Overseas Friends of BJP (OFSBJP) East London, Ilford celebrated Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s win in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and shared their experiences of Modi’s reign over the last five years alongside their expectations from the BJP government in the next five years.

Discussing NaMo's win, the Chief Guest, and Vice Preident of OSFBJP, Dr Anand Arya said- “Sangathan could not beat BJP. This is because BJP got minorities and people from poor communities to support Modiji. Many people living in rural India may be illiterate and poor but they showed maturity and intelligence while casting their vote for the BJP.”

Members gathered at the event sang the national anthem of indialed by satish gautam followed by chants of “Jai Shree Ram”- a Hindu slogan. Last month, in the state of West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had been travelling through one of the constituencies when some of the youths had raised these slogans, were booked for “petty offences” and eight of them were arrested but were later released on bail.

“It is sad that people were arrested in West Bengal for saying Jai Sia Ram. Hope things will change. Modiji has achieved immense respect for India on a global platform and among international countries,” said Darshan Grewal, Vice President of the organisation and an ex-Mayor of Hounslow.

The event was attended by Rami Ranger, MBE, Inder Singh Jamu, ex mayor Barking and Dagenham, Dhirubhai Shah, Sanchalak, Vinubhai Wadher, Surendra Shah, Jayantibhai Patel, Ashok Kumar Sharma, ex Mayor Redbridge, Suresh Kumar Indira Travel, Jagdish Trehan, Chairman, Satkar Club, Panjabi Centre, Ilford and Mr Ramesh Vasishta.

“The Indians have given Narendra Modi a massive mandate because of his excellent work to date,” said Mr Basheshar N Bhanot, one of the organizers of the event.

Whereas, C.K. Chibber, another organiser of the event said, “The Opposition in India has made a factory of lies to malign Modiji and the mainstream media fabricated false stories against BJP.”

The event also saw Gurdev Lalli, Sudha Malhotra and Krishan Kumar Sharma sing patriotic songs at the event while the organisers thanked Kurukshetra Group led by Saahil Kalra for their hospitality and the V.H.P for their support and assistance in organising the event.
