Essex Indians community group, the most vibrant group in Essex organised a gala sit down dinner with live entertainment, dance and fashion show. The concert called East Meets West, is one of the most prestigious Diwali events of Essex, running successfully for last 8 years.
The evening was carefully curated in three sections. Beginning of the event was by Essex Indian choir led by Dr Anirban Mandal and team consists of Arya, Teerna, Shreyashi, Sushmita, Sayantini and Ujjwal. They welcomed guest with song Swagatam Suswagatm and Bony M's song 'Brown girl in the Rain'. Two young girls Lakshmi and Roopkatha performed Bharatnatyam and Odissi. After their performance three talented teenagers Teerna, Niki and Shreya entertained audience with popular western numbers. Ujjwal did a powerful performance on Robbie Williams' famous number Angel.
Bandal Mainline band led by Anirban staged a very energetic performance with popular dancing numbers.
Event was followed by a unique dance show Bombay Meri Jaan where more than 40 dancers, singers and musician paid tribute to famous artists of Bollywood film industry. Singers were members of Essex Indian choir. Solo and duet performances were by Arya, Sanjib and Sushmita. Fine dancers mesmerised audience with their expression and footwork. Pritidipa, Ahana, Sanjana, Prasashya presented solo performance. Group performance by Nandini Shamik, Chitra, Jitendra, Malini and Arghya was extremely energetic. Children of Essex Indians received a standing ovation from the audience following their dance with tune of Naach Meri Jaan. Sulagna, Soumi, Tanaya and Ashmita presented a beautiful dance medley. A Duet by Raj Lakshmi and Zara, and Pritidipa and Moumita showcased a beautiful dance performace.
The programme concluded with a Masti themed fashion show. Participants of the show were Jayita, Suman, Solan, Sanchita, Rishin, Karuna, Viswambhar and all the performers of Bombay Meri Jaan. Finale of the show was a Fashion show choreographed by Sandhya Aiyer Oza - The world is my stage.
Mouth-watering 3 course Indian dinner were provided by Tabla, one of the most popular Restaurants in East London. Charity raffle raised a significant amount of money and well conducted by Chitra and children of Essex Indians.
Chairman of Essex Indian Mr Dipankar Mukhopadhyay talked about fund raising Initiative of the team towards Humanity Hospital, Kolkata and Havering mind charity. Rotarian Dr Karuna Srivastav talked about Essex Indians' contribution towards social causes.
