In the run up to the 18th Asian Achievers Awards, ABPL Group is preparing to honour the best of British Asian achievers who have gone from strength to strength to make their mark in businesses, public life, uniformed services, education, arts, and other significant fields. On 14th September, this event will celebrate the contributions made by individuals who created a name for themselves despite multi-layered challenges. The award ceremony will be hosted at the Grosvenor House, London, organised by Britain’s oldest Asian diaspora publications Asian Voice and Gujarat Samachar. The venue, which is expect to house more than 800 people for the evening, has been hosting guests since 1854 in the heart of London and is the perfect place to honour the legacy of one of the most thriving communities of the United Kingdom.
Like every year, the awards night will have a Charity Partner for which the Asian Achievers Awards (AAA) will help raise funds. Since its inception, AAA has helped various charities raise millions of pounds, and this year, the chosen charity organisation is Oracle Cancer Trust, UK’s leading charity solely dedicated to funding research into head and neck cancer. Head and neck cancer is hugely underfunded compared to incidence and Oracle Cancer Trust has made significant breakthroughs with the ICR in discovering smarter, kinder treatments for patients. Oracle funds early-stage studies that show the greatest promise of being translated into full clinical trials. The organisation funds a variety of studies including a thyroid cancer research group, immuno and virus therapies, imaging, combination drug therapies and developing treatment algorithms for the new MR Linac imaging machine based at The Royal Marsden Hospital in Sutton.
Speaking in support of the event, Oracle said, “We are honoured to be chosen as Charity of the Year for the 18th Asian Achievers Awards. Oracle Cancer Trust is the UK’s leading charity dedicated to researching newer and kinder treatments for head and neck cancer and in the last ten years have invested over £5m in funding pioneering research programmes. Head and neck cancer is the most common form of cancer in India and the sixth most common in the world - current treatments can have lifelong and damaging side-effects. With the support of the Asian Achievers Awards we want to raise awareness about the devastating effects of the disease and help make this vital and much-needed research possible. Our ambition, with your help, is to fund an additional £200,000 of scientific research in 2018”.
In making the event successful, Asian Achievers Awards is proud to have Colors TV on as Media Partners. ABPL Group is pleased to have on board a team of sponsors who are ensuring that the event is as grand as the spirit of our nominees. The list includes prestigious organisations such as EY, Axiom Stone, Starling Bank, DDO Solicitors, Sow & Reap, SBI UK, Edwardian Hotels, and Regent Group, among others.
