British Indian kids have always had a natural endowment for prospering and attaining unthinkable objectives. No doubt, when one thinks of intelligent children, Indians are one of the first to come to mind. One such bright and talented 11-year-old Indian-born Saanya Verma, who scored high in both of the Mensa Tests, (Cattell III B Scale- 162 and Culture Fair Scale- 142).

Saanya has also achieved Level 6 in both English and Mathematics for her Key Stage 2 SATs. She has constantly performed exceptionally well and continues to do so in senior school. She is currently in year 7 at a leading independent school in North West London.

Apart from being studious and a bright academician, she is passionate about music, and enjoys to play chess. Saanya has always been interested in the cosmos and maths and she is an avid reader. She spends a large amount of time working on robotics and electronics and more recently, she has been developing codes for the robots (Lego Mindstorms) and electronic instruments (Arduino).

Her mother, Sunita Verma shared, “It has been a proud moment for us and I think it's an equally proud moment for the community that has provided her with the support and encouragement to achieve these unique objectives.”

Saanya spends reasonable amount of time with her father, Sunil Verma, a banker by profession, discussing science and robotics. He often concludes that "Saanya has always surprised me with her questions and her reasoning skills have often put me in situations where i have felt overwhelmed. We are proud of her and are constantly challenged by her".

The talented young girl also participated in the Primary Maths Challenge. The Maths Leader, Mrs Winkle stated, "Huge congratulations to all the Year 6 pupils who took part in the Primary Maths Challenge. Thirty eight of them were amongst 79,000 primary school pupils who took part in the first round back in November. A special mention should go to three of our pupils who were awarded a gold certificate and were invited to take part in the bonus round in February. Only 1184 pupils were invited to do this... Saanya Verma [ as well as two other students] are amongst only 153 pupils who have been awarded a silver medal. Only 530 pupils out of those that entered the bonus round were awarded a medal so they should be very proud of themselves!"
