On Thursday, 15th August as students across the UK picked up their A level results, the Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys’ School’s pupils rejoiced their achievements with A* and A grades in all subject areas.
According to the school 44% of all grades awarded were A* and 76% of all grades were A* and A. 41 pupils gained three or more A* grades; and 87 pupils received straight A* and A grades. Almost 20% of these students have been offered places at Oxbridge universities, with the majority opting for other Russell Group universities, and some taking up places abroad.
“I am very excited with my results. I received an unconditional offer from Stanford University. So, I have secured my place earlier on. Regardless, it is still great to receive these grades and finish my school career on such a high note,” said Ishan Gandhi who was awarded 3A* and 1A. He will pursue his degree in Computer Science at Stanford University.
With approximately 20% of Habs pupils receiving some financial assistance, the school's academic and co-curricular opportunities are available to all.
At a time where the arts, creativity and modern languages are increasingly becoming overlooked, 100% of Drama entries at Habs were awarded A*-A, as were all Design Technology, Spanish and Russian grades. Habs musicians have also produced stellar results. Sameer Aiyar-Majeed, who has a talented musician and has Grade 8 distinction in violin and clarinet, achieved three straight A*s andnow looks forward to studying Natural Sciences at Cambridge.
In addition, special congratulations must go to the economists where 48% of the batch achieved A*; 55% of the biologists achieved A*; 53% A* for further mathematicians and 58% A* for philosophy students.
“The boys have worked tremendously hard, not only in preparing for examinations, but also on the sports pitches, on the drama stage, in the music hall, and on the many rewarding charity and community events and initiatives at Habs.
