India all-rounders Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya lost their father, Himanshu, last week. The senior Pandya suffered a heart attack. He was 71. Krunal, who was leading Baroda in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament, had to leave the bio-bubble in Vadodara created for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, to be with the family and perform the last rites, the Baroda Cricket Association said. India captain Virat Kohli took to twitter to offer condolences. "Heartbroken to hear about the demise of Hardik and Krunal's dad. Spoke to him a couple of times, looked a joyful and full of life person. May his soul rest in peace. Stay strong you two," wrote Kohli on twitter. Former India cricketer Irfan Pathan, who had also captained Baroda, also tweeted his condolences. "Remember meeting uncle for the first time at motibagh. He was so keen for his sons to play good cricket. My condolences to You and family. May god give you strength to pass through this difficult time @krunalpandya24 @hardikpandya7," wrote Pathan.
Uthappa powers Kerala to 6-wicket victory over Delhi
Shikhar Dhawan-led Delhi put up a massive 212-run total on the board against Kerala in a Group E match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament last week, but Kerala opener Robin Uthappa made a mockery of the target by helping his team win the match with 6 balls remaining. Uthappa smashed 3 fours and 8 sixes to score 91 off 54 balls and was involved in a 132-run partnership off 65 balls with Vishnu Vinod, who remained unbeaten on 71. Earlier, Shikhar Dhawan scored 77 after being asked to bat first. Lalit Yadav chipped in with 52. Sreesanth scalped two wickets (Shikhar Dhawan and Nitish Rana) for Kerala.
Mumbai suffer 3rd straight loss: Budding left-arm pacer Arjun Tendulkar, son of iconic former batsman Sachin Tendulkar, made his Mumbai senior team debut against Haryana, which the hosts lost by eight wickets. In the Elite E League group clash played at the suburban BKC ground, Mumbai made 143 after opting to bat first, a target which Haryana overhauled in 17.4 overs. Arjun had an off day with the ball as he returned with rather unimpressive figures of 1/34 in the three overs that he bowled. Arjun didn't get the chance to face a single delivery when Mumbai batted as the team was bundled out in 19.3 overs.
