The 35-year-old Ravindra Jadeja was back to his menacing best at Chepauk as he bamboozled the Kolkata Knight Riders batters to steer the hosts to a seven-wicket win. Showing the capacity crowd why he is CSK’s go-to bowler in the middle overs, Jadeja returned match-winning figures of 3-18, with his efficient performance helping the home team to restrict the visitors to a below-par score of 137-9. The chase was a walk in the park for Super Kings, who got the job done with 14 balls to spare as Knight Riders tasted their first defeat of the season. Skipper and opener Ruturaj Gaikwad (67 not out) saw his side through, gaining much-needed confidence by raising his first half-century of the season.

MI seal first win

In the end, the 32 runs that Romario Shepherd scored in the last over off Anrich Nortje proved to be the difference as Mumbai Indians recorded their first win of the season when they defeated Delhi Capitals by 29 runs at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. Till the 15th over of MI’s innings, DC would have felt that they have done a decent job of keeping the home sides scoring in check. MI, after a brisk start in the Powerplay, where they were 75 for no loss, were reduced 138 for four at that stage having scored just 63 runs from overs 7 and 15 and lost four wickets for just 41 runs.
But just when DC thought that they had MI on the mat, their big-hitters -Tim David (45) and Shepherd (39) shared an unbeaten 13-ball 53 stand for the sixth wicket to turn the tables on DC.

Thakur and Stoinis power LSG

Lucknow : Lucknow Super Giants were clinical while registering a 33-run win over Gujarat Titans in their IPL 2024 match in Luckno on Sunday. The Gujarat side could not mount a strong chase of 164 and ended at 130 all out as LSG pacer Yash Thakur (5/30) and spinner Krunal Pandya (3/11) came up with impact efforts. For GT, only opener Sai Sudharsan (31) could offer some resistance.
Earlier, all-rounder Marcus Stoinis hit a fine 50 while Nicholas Pooran played a cameo towards the end to guide LSG to 163 for five. Opting to bat, LSG rode on Stoinis’ 58 off 43 balls and his 73-run stand off 62 balls with skipper KL Rahul for the third wicket to propel LSG.

Buttler spoils Kohli party

Leaving behind the disappointment of the previous three outings, Jos Buttler was back in business on Saturday as he ripped through the unheralded RCB bowling attack with a dominant, unbeaten 100 off 58 balls to help Rajasthan Royals cruise to a six-wicket victory at the SMS Stadium in Jaipur. The onslaught by Buttler not only overshadowed, but also dampened the excitement around Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 113 off 72 balls earlier. This was Kohli’s first century against the Royals and also his first at this venue. With this win, Royals have extended their unbeaten streak with four wins in as many games. Chasing 184, the partnership of 148 between Buttler and Samson (69) was broken by Mohammed Siraj in the 15th over, but by that time the damage was done and Royals only needed 35 to seal the game.

Punjab seal 200-run chase against Titans

Shashank Singh and Impact Player Ashutosh Sharma hauled Punjab Kings to a stunning three wicket triumph over Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Shashank, who came in to bat with the Kings in peril - having lost Sam Curran in the ninth over at 70/4 - scampered for a leg bye off the penultimate ball to cap off wild celebrations in the Punjab camp. Shashank, first with Sikandar Raza and then with Jitesh Sharma and Ashutosh, took the Kings to an improbable and dramatic triumph. Shashank (61) hit Noor Ahmad for a straight six in the 10th over before hitting Umesh Yadav for a six towards the fine leg in the next over. With 25 needed off 12 balls, Ashutosh and Shashank smashed sixes off Mohit Sharma to reduce the target to seven runs off six balls. Despite losing Ashutosh off the first ball of the last over, Shashank carried the team to a memorable triumph and ended the two game losing streak.

Knight Riders demolish Delhi

While skipper Shreyas Iyer failed to fire for Kolkata Knight Riders, power-hitters Andre Russell (41), Rinku Singh (26) and youngster Angkrish Raghuvanshi (54) flexed their muscles on Delhi Capitals bowlers to help KKR post a gigantic total. It took a pin-point yorker from Ishant Sharma to stop Russell mania from running wild in the final over as Kolkata posted 272-7 in 20 overs. Russell and Rinku fired KKR to the second-highest total in IPL's history. Playing a captain's knock for the Delhi Capitals, Rishabh Pant (55) smashed his first half-century against KKR in the IPL. Tristan Stubbs also played a counterattacking knock (54) although Pant’s DC ended up losing the contest by 106 runs.
LSG outplay Bengaluru
Lucknow Super Giants outplayed hosts Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 28 runs in the Indian Premier League. Chasing LSG’s competitive 181/5, RCB folded up for 153 in 19.4 overs. If Quinton de Kock (81) wore his dancing shoes throughout his blistering knock, Delhi youngster Mayank Yadav, made the RCB batters dance to his pace and precision. The 21-year-old, who clocked upwards of 150 kmph regularly, tormented the RCB batters. Spinner M Siddharth, who came in as impact player Quinton de Kock, made it count as Virat Kohli became the rookie’s maiden IPL wicket. Kohli went for an expansive shot which barely connected and Padikkal got under the skier at backward point. Padikkal had an off day with the bat, but was in electrifying form as a fielder.
