The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni underwent a knee surgery in Mumbai in his efforts to be fit for the next season of IPL. After playing in the IPL championship game last week, he promptly boarded a flight to Mumbai with CSK team doctor Madhu Thottappillil, where he met with expert Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, who recommended that Captain Cool undergo surgery right once.
He didn't waste any time and underwent an arthroscopic repair on his left knee which had troubled him through the IPL. He had sustained the injury during an IPL training camp in Chennai. The team doctor treated him during the IPL which helped him to be fit against all odds. But it was clear that the surgery had to be done and once Dhoni announced that he would like to play one more season, he felt there was no point delaying it so that he gets enough time to do his rehabilitation. According to a source, "He wanted to have it done before he went to Ranchi. It has been a long season for him and he wanted to get this out of the way."
It is understood that Dhoni will need three to four months of rehabilitation time following which he will start his preparation for the next season. After the surgery, he was released from the Mumbai hospital and he left for Ranchi.
