When we exercise, muscle gain and strength development progress gradually with consistent workouts. Similarly, learning is a slow, step-by-step process that accumulates knowledge over time. Building wealth also follows an incremental pattern, with savings and earnings accumulating day by day, month by month. Just as humans grow slowly from childhood to old age, in ways that may not be immediately visible but are noticeable over time, trees also grow gradually and almost imperceptibly.
The advantage of slow, steady, and incremental growth is that it is organic and balanced, encompassing all aspects of development comprehensively. True growth is holistic and complete. We cannot imagine a person whose hands have fully grown while their legs remain underdeveloped, nor can we envision a tree whose trunk lags in growth while its branches and leaves are fully matured. Such imbalanced growth appears unnatural and undesirable. In cases of inconsistent, non-incremental growth, core strength often remains weak, and the overall form may become unattractive—something no one seeks.
This principle applies equally to life and personal development. Sudden wealth, for example, may lead to antisocial behaviours or unchecked arrogance. Focusing solely on one pillar of life while neglecting others can lead to situations where financial growth may be achieved but at the expense of family relationships or health. Balanced development requires identifying all areas of focus and adding value to each gradually and consistently, without the impatience to see rapid results.
Incremental growth demands patience and discipline, qualities we sometimes lack. Many people struggle to allow the natural process to add value to their lives, yearning instead for instant outcomes that resemble a lottery win. A disciplined approach to growth, however, fosters confidence in the process itself. By adhering to a steady plan and working diligently without frustration over slow or invisible progress, we build a foundation for future success. Much like a seed that, when sown, watered regularly, and given time, will sprout in its own season, any dedicated effort in life will eventually yield results—slowly, consistently, and organically.
Thus, it is wise to trust that incremental growth is more beneficial than sudden gains.
