Deep Dhir joined Dilse radio in 2013 and is now hosting his show every weekday from 1pm to 4pm. He initially presented a mid-morning show playing hit Bollywood songs and reading out horoscopes because there were no phone lines in the studio at that time. He then went on to launch the lunch time debate, where he and his team built up a steady flow of listeners.

Deep earned his stripes presenting the Lunch time debate show single handily before firmly establishing himself as the King of Talk on Let’s Talk’ from 1pm onwards every weekday where his guests have been an eclectic mix of people. From the Former PM David Cameron through to the president of MORI and even stand-up comedians have all walked into his studios and experienced the Deep Rajah Interview.

1) Which place or city or country do you most feel at home in?

London. It really inspires me as I grew up in London. Its variety of cultures and cuisines. The way history intertwines itself with modernity, London is the number one place to live in.

2) What are your proudest achievements?

Learning to walk all over again after a major hip operation on my 13th Birthday. Caring for my parents in their older years. My father suffered a massive stroke in his late years. That taught me how fragile life can be and how close I got to him while caring from him at that time and being known as the 'people’s man' and developing a talk show that gives others an opportunity people to talk about how they experience London from their points of view. Especially from the ethnic minorities.

3) What inspires you?

Being challenged about ideas. Being spoken and listened too. Being appreciated from all my hard work and efforts.

4)What has been biggest obstacle in your career?

Myself, I believe we are our own worst enemy and it is us as individuals who hold us back from achieving our goals.

5) Who has been the biggest influence on your career to date?

Firstly, Freddie Mercury from Queen-despite him facing a number of obstacles he still managed to be the lead singer of one of the worlds greatest rock bands.

Secondly, Rod Eddington - Former CEO of British airways - He told me to remember your family in any given situation its your family whom you will ultimately rely on. Thirdly, My parents - They came to the UK as immigrants and with hard work achieved miracles.

6) What is the best aspect about your current role?

Making people feel valued and respected for their opinions. My show reflects a lot of how society is behaving and if someone can call me and tell their opinion from their points of view that is what really makes my show.

7) And the worst?

Getting people to come on air. Being 'Mic Shy' never helps when you are trying to host a talk show!

8) What are your long term goals?

To remain happy and remain in my current role.

9) If you were Prime Minister, what one aspect would you change?

The fact that that there is too big a divide between the PM and his voters. More people should be able to actively communicate with the PM. That way the country's voters would feel more respected.

10) If you were marooned on a desert island, which historical figure would you like to spend your time with and why?

Mahatma Gandhi. After all he has had previous experience of this!
