Reports from a survey conducted by the charity, Breast Cancer Care, reveal that nearly a fifth of women found to have breast cancer waited more than a month to consult their GP after first spotting signs of the disease.

Furthermore, the survey also states that 5% of women were waiting more than six months, which is a life threatening delay. In addition, a third of the women thought that their symptoms were not serious and should not visit their GP.
