Sister Nivedita Celebrations UK along with Merton Council have installed a bronze statue of Sister Nivedita in Wimbledon. The great disciple of Swami Vivekananda used to run a school in Wimbledon in 1890s when she met Swamiji and went to India to dedicate her life for the women’s education and also freedom movement.

On 12 May, in Wimbledon, it was a historic moment when Sister Nivedita's statue came all the way from Sargachi RKM. The statue and plinth were donated by Dr Chanchal Dey of Bidhan Nagar Ramakrishna Vivekananda Kendra, Kolkata and Dr Satyajit Chakrabarty of University of Engineering and Management.  It was organised by Sister Nivedita Celebrations UK with the help of worldwide followers of Sister Nivedita.

The statue will be formally inaugurated by Rev Swami Sarvasthanandaji of Vedanta Centre on 1 July. The statue at a prime location of London is a rarity and involves a lot of hard work. The cost of installation was organised by Sister Nivedita celebrations UK through crowd funding from their friends and devotees of Ramakrishna Mission Vedanta Centre, UK.
