The Labour MP, Sadiq Khan has been accused of misrepresenting a meeting which took place with the former Prime Minister, Tony Blair, after the 7/7 bombings for political gain.

Sadiq Khan was one of the four Muslim MPs who was invited to see Tony Blair after the attacks in 2005. It is said that Khan has claimed that he had rebuked Blair at the meeting for attempting to blame all Muslims for the attacks in London.

Sadiq Khan has allegedly claimed that Tony Blair had “called the four MPs of Islamic faith into No 10 and sat us round the table and said- to Mohammad Sarwar, Khalid Mahmood, Shahid Malik and myself- it is our responsibility. I said: 'No, it's not. Why have you called us in? I don't blame you for the Ku Klux Klan'.”

However, Khalid Mahmood and Shahid Malik have expressed that they were “extremely troubled” by Khan's account, which they stated was “completely at odds: with what they could recollect.

Sadiq Khan stated, “We will have to disagree on what Tony said, as I have a clear recollection.”
