Osborne announces Lord Adonis as head of infrastructure commission

George Osborne pledges to “shake Britain out of its inertia” by handing the judgement on buildings billions of pounds worth of power stations, homes, roads and new airports to an independent commission, chaired by Lord Adonis, a former Labour cabinet minister.

Lord Adonis, the former Transport Secretary, is leaving his party to chair a National Infrastructure Commission.
