The Grand Mufti of Lebanon, Sheikh Abdulatif Deryan, spent Tuesday in the city visiting faith leaders and members of the community before heading to London for a couple of days.
The Grand Mufti is the highest official of religious law in a Sunni Muslim country.
Mufti Deryan said: "My visit to the UK was an opportunity to have discussions about the threat of extremism in the name of religion and the threat it has on security, and on people who want to live in peace and tranquility.
"My stance on this is clear. It is forbidden to use violence in the name of Islam or any religion because religion is here for people, their wellbeing and prosperity."
