Last week as the coronavirus cases continued to rise, leaked reports and documents indicated that doctors in West Midlands were informed to plan for a mass coronavirus vaccination scheme from November. According to a leaked document reported by the BBC, two Covid-19 vaccines, Ambush and Triumph, are expected to be available this year and Immunising everyone will take 10 months starting with the most vulnerable in care homes.
Mass vaccination sites and mobile facilities are being commissioned as part of as a "fairly massive exercise". About 140,000 doses are expected to be delivered to Herefordshire and Worcestershire in 14 weeks. In the meantime, Staffordshire is set to receive 600,000 doses and one of the vaccines is being manufactured locally at Keele University.
