A Birmingham charity which supports people with a learning disability to reach their full potential has celebrated its 30th anniversary. Birmingham Rathbone, led by CEO Chris Bates, held a special event to mark this milestone at Moseley Rugby Club last Saturday.
The day featured a wide range of activities for people of all ages. Our senior news editor Dhiren Katwa who attended the event described the charity “an open and transparent charity, particularly in terms of its finances, in an ever-murkier Third Sector”.
Birmingham Rathbone is a high-quality service provider which prides itself on its top review score of 5 ‘A’ grades for its Supporting People services and ‘Good’ across the board awarded by the Care Quality Commission for its Home Care services. Once homeless, a client said: “They helped me find a place to live and supported me to pay my rent and other bills. I now live in shared accommodation and have voluntary work in a charity shop to build up confidence and skills”.
