After hitting a pensioner with his car in Foleshill Road, Parminder Bagri then drove and left him for dead before lying to police about the crash. Bagri's Volkswagen Golf collided with 83-year-old Brian Durham - who was pronounced dead at the scene - as he was walking home with a friend after an evening playing dominoes just days before Christmas.
Detectives saw through Bagri's lies and he was jailed for four years for causing death by dangerous driving. He also admitted charges of perverting the course of justice and possession of a Class B drug.
