Wolverhampton South East MP Pat McFadden attended the Sikh Remembrance Day event held at the Civic Centre in Wolverhampton on Friday 12th June. The event commemorated the victims of Operation Bluestar in 1984 and was attended by local MPs, members of the Sikh community and various dignitaries from West Midlands Police and the Fire Service amongst others.
He said: “I congratulate the Mayor and the Wolverhampton Sikh Partnership for organising this event to remember the victims of 1984. Many people were killed in India at this time simply because of their faith. The terrible events of that year have left long lasting grief and pain in the Sikh community. There is also a sense of injustice that those responsible have never been brought to justice. The event in the Civic Centre was a moving occasion of remembrance for all those who lost their lives.”
