Sparkhill Pool & Fitness Centre in Birmingham was officially opened last Wednesday.

The honours, red ribbon-cutting and unveiling of a commemorative plaque, were done by the leader of Birmingham City Council Cllr Ian Ward and special guest, former Olympian and TV presenter Colin Jackson OBE.

As part of the opening, dignitaries were given a tour around the site of the new £7.5mn leisure centre. The state-of-the-art Centre includes a 6-lane, 25m pool with viewing areas, along with a learner pool, an 80-station fitness suite, dance studios, cafe and community room as well as a sauna and steam facilities.

Guests were welcomed by Centre Manager Rajvinder Kahlwan, for whom praises were sung throughout.
