A factory worker died after a piece of equipment flew off a machine he was operating and struck him in the chest and face with a force of up to eight tonnes, an inquest has heard.

Tarsem Singh, a father-of-two from Oadby, had been working on a moulding machine at plastics engineering firm Nylacast, in Thurmaston Boulevard, Leicester, on April 15, last year when the object struck him.

A jury at Leicester Coroner's Court, at the Town Hall, last Friday heard that the 52-year-old, who had worked at the firm for 23 years, died at Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre (QMC) the following day.
