Emergency services were called after a 4X4 crashed through the window of a restaurant in Leicester’s Melton Road. The Lexus vehicle was embedded in the front of the Grand Durbar opposite the main entrance to Rushey Mead Academy.
The academy say no pupils were injured in the incident which happened as students were streaming into the building.
One person was freed from the vehicle by firefighters from Leicester’s Eastern fire station called to the scene by police shortly after 8.15am. Leicestershire Police said a second vehicle was also damaged in the incident.
The vehicle had been recovered and the building was being checked for safety.
East Midlands Ambulance Service personnel were also on the scene, but it’s not known if anyone received treatment.
