When Londoners took their pants off

Many Londoners were left aghast, amused and astonished by the sight of half-naked passengers travelling on the Tube. On Sunday 10th January, many underwear-cladded people boarded trains across London, participating in the annual No Pants Tube Ride.

This bewilderingly peculiar phenomenon started off in America, in 2002, when seven men had taken off their trousers and rode the New York subway as a joke.

On Improv Everywhere's website, the organisers stated, “The idea behind No Pants is simple: Random passengers board a subway car at separate stops in the middle of winter without pants. The participants behave as if they do not know each other, and they all wear winter coats, hats, scarves, and gloves. The only unusual thing is their lack of pants.”

This trend took place in 60 countries this year, including countries such as Czech Slovakia, as well as in Australia.
