Muslim woman kicked and told "this isn't bloody Africa"

On 28^th October, at about 8:10pm, a Muslim woman in her 40s was subjected to a violent Islamophobic attack on the London bus number 63, going towards Peckham. The victim was punched in the head and kicked off the bus by two women in their 20s.

It is alleged that the two abusers filmed themselves on their mobile phones while they attacked the victim in Elephant and Castle.

Passengers were shocked at what they had witnessed on the bus. An eyewitness stated, “The girl and her friend recorded video of themselves shouting Islamophobic hate speech at the woman and physically intimidating her. After bringing the lady to tears, I heard them screaming at her 'stop crying and shut the f*** up'. As she tried to get off the bus, they followed her to the doors where the girl violently kicked the woman on the curb [sic].”

It is also alleged that the women had shouted “this isn't bloody Africa” to the victim.

Police said that the incident left the victim badly shaken and she had to be taken to the hospital to treat her injuries.

Officers have also released photographs of the women and have appealed for people who recognise them to get in touch. They have also requested passengers who have filmed and taken photographs of the attack to contact them.
