Harrow-based TLC Care recognised as one of the UK’s top employer

Harrow-based elderly care provider, TLC Care, which provides nursing, residential and dementia care across London, Cambridge, Surrey and Hertfordshire, was awarded a Platinum status by the prestigious and internationally recognised Investors in People accreditation group.

The platinum award is the highest accreditation possible and is held by only 2% of the 8,000 UK companies that apply. To receive this award, companies must prove that they invest in employees at all levels of the business and enshrine the company’s values in every aspect of its work.

TLC Care is the only care provider in the UK to have achieved the Platinum accreditation – an achievement made all the more impressive considering its team, like so many in the care sector, were on the front-lines of the coronavirus pandemic response.

Assessors noted this when making their decision, commenting on the resilience of the team who supported each other while continuing to provide excellent quality of care, despite the increased demands on their time. Assessors were also impressed by the care provider’s ability to make sure that everyone – from the Home Managers to chefs and housekeepers – is empowered to perform at their best and is supported to continually develop according to their own capabilities.

Paul Devoy, CEO of Investors in People said, “I congratulate TLC Care for achieving our very highest award. A Platinum accreditation is testament to their high performance and making work better for their people”.

Paavan Popat, Chief Executive of TLC Care, said, “We are absolutely thrilled to have been recognised as one of the UK’s top employers by Investors in People.

“TLC Care has worked incredibly hard to make sure our team members have the resources and opportunities to grow, both professionally and personally. We know that our teams work in care because they want to improve the lives of our residents, and we consider it our duty and privilege to make sure their efforts are rewarded.

“I would particularly like to thank our Chief Operating Officer, Lorna Badrick, for her outstanding work over the past year, and particularly over the last six months during an incredibly challenging time for the care sector and for our team. She has led our journey to make sure everyone at TLC Care has a career they can progress in and be proud of.

Lorna Badrick, Chief Operations Officer said, “In a difficult year, we showcased our one-team approach in all that we do and achieved more than we ever thought possible. Achieving the phenomenal Investors in People Platinum accreditation, at a time when care workers deserve more recognition for the services they provide, is another example of this.”
