Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's landslide victory in the general elections six months ago provides the potential for a bold foreign policy towards the South Asian region and beyond. Modi has since travelled to several countries including Bhutan, Nepal, Brazil, Japan, the US, Myanmar and Australia.
In the US and Australia he has received a huge reception from overseas Indian communities. The President of China and the Prime Minister of Australia have visited India. What are Prime Minister Modi's foreign policy priorities and objectives? How will he seek to ensure regional stability and security? How best can he maximise India's policy options in its extended neighbourhood in the Gulf and the Indo-Pacific? What are the challenges and opportunities for relations with the P-5 countries?
