Poonam Savjani, a qualified trichologist and founder of Hair Serenity Clinic, specialises in holistic hair restoration treatments. Inspired by her journey with hair loss, Poonam combines evidence-based therapies with natural remedies to address hair thinning effectively. Her commitment to providing personalised, one-on-one care has helped countless clients regain not just healthier, fuller hair, but also their confidence.

Poonam Savjnai’s journey into the field of hair care stems from a deeply personal battle with postpartum hair loss. After the birth of her first child at 24, her hair loss was significant yet temporary. However, her second pregnancy brought severe shedding, leaving her with seven bald patches and diminishing confidence.

Coming from an Asian background where appearance often invites unsolicited opinions, Poonam faced comments and pity from visitors, which amplified her struggle. Frustrated by inconclusive medical advice and treatments, she delved into natural solutions. A breakthrough came with a non-invasive treatment, restoring her hair and confidence.

Inspired by this transformation, Poonam pursued trichology, becoming a certified hair loss specialist. In October 2023, she opened her clinic, offering personalised treatments and innovative solutions. Her work has already helped hundreds regain their hair and confidence, solidifying her dedication to transforming lives through natural hair restoration.

Speaking of hair loss and baldness in Asian men, Poonam told us, “Hair loss in Asian men often stems from genetic and hormonal factors, with male pattern baldness being the most common cause. While less prevalent than in other demographics, those affected typically notice thinning at the crown and receding hairlines. Stress, societal pressures, and dietary deficiencies—common in traditional diets—can worsen hair loss. In my practice, I identify causes like stress, thyroid issues, nutritional deficiencies, and hormonal imbalances. Comprehensive blood tests help uncover underlying problems, enabling me to provide tailored advice and recommend supplements. This holistic approach ensures effective, long-term results by addressing the root causes of hair loss.”

Further talking about hair loss in Asians, she said, “In the Asian community, hair is seen as a symbol of vitality, making hair loss a sensitive issue. Traditionally, many rely on remedies like hair oils, but these often fail to address deeper causes. Blocked follicles from dandruff, product residue, or excess skin can prevent new growth. Healthy hair requires both internal and external care, much like fitness demands proper nutrition. At our clinic, we focus on scalp rejuvenation through treatments like the Photon Therapy Brush and microneedling, which unclog follicles and boost circulation. By educating the community, we’re empowering individuals to embrace effective, science-backed solutions for lasting results.”

But hair loss can be tackled. Poonam says, “Hair loss can be distressing, but early action is key. Identifying causes like stress, nutritional deficiencies, or hormonal imbalances is the first step. I recommend blood tests to detect deficiencies in iron, vitamin D, B12, and biotin, which are crucial for hair health. At my clinic, we take a holistic approach, combining treatments like microneedling, Low-Level Light Therapy, and natural remedies with personalised advice on diet, stress management, and scalp care. By addressing internal health and external factors together, we empower individuals to regain their hair and confidence.”
