It is said that a jihadi preacher who allegedly had links to Osama Bin Laden will be allowed to remain in the UK, although he was denied citizenship due to his “extremist” views.

The 50-year-old Yemeni-born imam, whose name cannot be revealed under the protection given to him by the Special Immigration Appeals Commission (SIAC), has spent over ten years fighting for UK citizenship in a case, costing tens of thousands of pounds from British taxpayers in court bills.

The imam has been detained between four and five times at British airports under terror laws. His home was also searched by Special Branch officers and there were “items” seized. He also frequently travels to Yemen, which is allegedly known as a destination for al-Qaeda linked terrorist groups.

The special court ruled that the imam is not entitled to a British passport because of his connections to Bin Laden, as well as for his radical views.
