Gareth Thomas, Labour and Co-op Parliamentary candidate for Harrow West launched his General Election campaign which was attended by a large number of residents, businesses and members. Gareth was first elected in May 1997 as a Member of Parliament for Harrow West.

Commenting at the launch Gareth said, “Harrow is my home. I grew up here, have always lived here and it’s where I’m raising my young family. Under the last Labour government, you could see a GP when you needed to, NHS waiting lists were at their shortest and satisfaction ratings at their highest. Sadly, and despite the incredible hard work and dedication of our NHS staff, waiting lists are now standing at an all-time high. This must change.

“We also need a return to community policing. More police on our streets and a dedicated Town Centre Police Team for Harrow. I will continue to take a keen interest in international issues and the relationship between the UK and India. I have pushed the Home Office on visa concerns, campaigned on the teaching of South Asian languages and will continue to support efforts to boost trade with India.”

Navin Shah CBE, Chair of Harrow West Labour Party, longstanding former Labour Councillor for Harrow and former London Assembly Member and Assembly Chair attended the launch.

Commenting on the campaign launch Navin Shah CBE said, “I am proud to have Gareth as my local MP for the last 27 years. He cares for the local community and businesses and he’s a true champion of local issues. One of Harrow’s key strengths is its diverse community. Gareth has played a big part in engaging with all communities and promoting harmony.”
