Mansi Gandhi (35) and Pritesh Gandhi (36) became first time parents through surrogacy. They now encourage others to think about surrogacy in the UK, rather than going abroad.

After suffering several miscarriages, the couple decided to opt for surrogacy and look at the options of going to foreign countries, such as India, Ukraine and the USA, as well as looking for options in the UK. However, they were aghast at the oversea prices.

After many deliberations and discussion with their family, Pritesh Gandhi's sister, Hiral Shah agreed to become their surrogate. She became pregnant in the first attempt of IVF treatment.

The couple had their son on 27th March 2015.

Pritesh Gandhi expressed, "We felt the whole process so far has been very smooth and easy and we want other couples who have been contemplating overseas surrogacy to try and look around first if they can find a suitable surrogate in the UK who may be their family member, friends or well-wisher. It will make their life a lot easier and will work out financially cheaper as well. The UK surrogacy laws are designed keeping in mind having a UK surrogate then the whole process becomes a lot easier."

Mr and Mrs Gandhi will also apply for a parental order, which will grant them a new birth certificate with parental responsibility transferred to them.

Pritesh Gandhi further stated, “There would be quite a few couples who perhaps give up on hopes of having a child because they are petrified about the whole overseas surrogacy process.

"I sincerely hope that this story brings joy and happiness to someone else's face as well. Salute to my sister, Hiral who has helped us to have a baby in our arms!"
