Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's Political Adviser at No10, Ameet Jogia was selected to contest the North West London seat of Hendon at the next General Election. Following the Tories recent victory in Uxbridge, Hendon was a tightly contested selection. Ameet beat a number of local candidates for the spot. The selection follows the resignation of long standing Conservative MP, Matthew Offord who will be stepping down at the next election. Hendon is a leafy London suburb, between Harrow and Finchley and Golders Green, which was previously represented by Margaret Thatcher. Ameet is seen as a heavy weight candidate in North West London. Not only is he a long standing Harrow Councillor, but also Co-Chairman of the Conservative Friends of India who received an MBE for his services to the Party last year. With his connections with Rishi Sunak and community members, including Lord Popat who he was a former aide to, Ameet is well known in the area.
Speaking after the selection Ameet told Asian Voice, “I am honoured to stand for Parliament in an area I am proud to call home. We have a strong presence in the area, and I look forward to championing Conservative values on the doorstep."
