Christening ceremony of Princess Charlotte

Monday 06th July 2015 11:20 EDT

Princess Charlotte, the daughter and the youngest bundle of joy of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge was christened at a service in Norfolk, on 5th July 2015.

The service was held at St Magdalene Church on the Queen's Sandringham Estate, at the same church where the Princess' late grandmother, Princess Diana was baptised, in 1961.

Although the ceremony was conducted in private, the public were invited to gather outside the church, which is a contrast to Prince George's christening ceremony, held inside the Chapel Royal at St James' Palace, where the public did not get a glimpse of the Prince.

This occasion also marked the first time the Duke and Duchess, along with their two children were seen together in public.

It was announced that Princess charlotte would have five godparents; Sophie Carter, James Meade, Adam Middleton, Laura Fellowes and Thomas van Straubenzee.

Laura Fellowes is the niece of the late Princess of Wales, while Adam Middleton is the Duchess' cousin. Carter, Meade and Straubenzee are all close friends of the Royal couple.
