A UK car number plate which bears the name of Hindu God Krishna, has been sold to a woman of Indian heritage at a record breaking £233,000- highest paid car registration so far.
The number plate KR15 HNA shot up in price from a starting bid of £27,000 at an auction at the Casa Hotel in Chesterfield. And the registration smashed previous record-breaking plate MR51 NGH, which was bought for £100,000.
Matthew Dainton, from DVLA Personalised Registrations said, “We had high hopes for KR15 HAN and KR15 HNA after a lot of interest being registered beforehand.
“Both of these current style registrations contributed to an enthralling atmosphere in the auction hall, and it’s fantastic to see the prices they have achieved.”
Oddly, the buyer does not yet have a car on which to put the new plate.
The world’s most expensive plate cost £518,000 and reads 25 O. It was bought by John Collins, who runs a Ferrari dealership.
