Two men were stabbed in a busy shopping centre in front of horrified onlookers last Sunday.
Shocking photos show a trail of blood and a large knife on the floor of The Mall shopping centre in Luton. Videos also show panicked bystanders and paramedics rushing in to help the men who were covered in blood.
Part of the 128-store complex was cordoned off pending a police investigation while the two unknown victims were rushed to hospital. Their condition is unknown.
Tess Osborne, who works at the Mall, said she saw metal fences being put up to block off the gruesome scene from public view. She told a London newspaper : "When I finished work there were metal fences and plastic sheets up — it really looked like a crime scene."
She added: "They should have closed the entire Mall not just corner off a little section".
A Bedfordshire Police spokesman said on Sunday: "We were called to reports of two men with stab wounds in The Mall, Luton at around 2.30pm. A number of officers attended, along with the Ambulance service and two men were taken to hospital.
Anyone with any information, or anyone who was in the area at around 2.30pm and witnessed anything, is asked to call 101 quoting reference number 184 of January 21.
