Terence Potter (55), a former partner at the Ernst & young accountancy has been sentenced to 8-years imprisonment, after he allegedly attempted to steal £2.2 million worth of tax associated to the film industry.
Financial adviser, Neil Williams-Denton (42) was also jailed for 6 years after he endorsed the fraudulent scams which were allegedly supported by fake documents. Denton and Potter were trials and found guilty at Southwark Crown Court, London.
The court heard how Potter reportedly sold many bogus schemes to rich professionals which exploited legal inadequacy to avoid paying tax.
Potter is also said to have set up partnerships which allegedly spent £5.7 million on two film projects, and created staged losses to let investors claim back pay-as-you-earn (PAYE) tax.
