Curvy model shares journey from skinny to fit

An India-based budding model has shared the story of how she embraced her body after years of practicing dangerous habits in a bid to remain skinny. Liza Golden-Bhojwani shared two side-by-side 'before and after' pictures of herself on Instagram earlier this month and in a long caption, conveyed how she achieved the thinner frame by eating as little as 500 calories a day.

She said the skinnier modelling shot was taken at the "peak" of her modelling career during her "first proper fashion week" in New York. Eventually, Liza realised she could not continue to deprive herself. "But after fainting one night in my apartment whilst preparing one of my very low-cal meals (I think it was 20 pieces of steamed edamame if I remember correctly), I called it quits with the diet and workout regime I was put on and decided I could do it on my own," she wrote. " I thought to myself, I can still be this thin, but I'll just eat a little more so I don't feel so horrible."

However, Liza went through a rebound phase following months of starvation and got herself stuck in a binge. "I was craving every single food you could imagine and I was giving in to every craving even though I knew this was such an important time in my career," she said. The cycle caused her to talk negatively of herself and she began blaming herself for "sabotaging" her career. Things took a turn for the best for her when she met with some of her friends visiting from India, and decided to go back with them for six weeks. Liza soon decided to leave behind New York City and her unhealthy model life, and that is when she had an epiphany. "I was struggling to lose weight again, and one day I just thought... Why am I fighting against my body? Why don't I just go in the same direction?"

The change in her life, and attitude has prompted her to become happier and satisfied with her body. " I work out five days a week, but there are times when I don't due to injuries, or travels. And you know what? That's just fine with me. Because when I'm done I get right back to the gym happily! I do it solely for myself, not for my job anymore," she said
