Arrangements for the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla idol in Ayodhya on Jan 22 this year cost £11.3 mn, according to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
During its recent meeting, the trust disclosed that £180 mn has been spent in the construction of the temple so far and an additional £67 mn is expected to be spent on construction of the next two phases by the end of this year.
The annual accounts for financial year 2023-24 were also presented before the board of trustees. The trust will file income tax return in Sept. The trust said that in the past four years, devotees have donated approximately 20 kg of gold and 13 quintal of silver to the temple. According to trust general secretary Champat Rai, total projected expenditure between April 1, 2024, and Mar 31, 2025, would be £85 mn. Out of this expenditure, £67 mn has been allocated for temple construction, while £18 mn has been earmarked for other expenses.
The trust disclosed total expenditure of £67.6 mn in the financial year 2023-24, from April 1, 2023, to Mar 31, 2024. Of this amount, £54 mn was used for temple construction, while £13.6 mn was spent on other items, including the expenditure incurred on the consecration ceremony.
The total income for the financial year 2023-24 was £36.33 mn, of which £20.4 mn came through bank interest. Devotees from across the country contributed a total of £5.8 mn in cash and through cheques at the trust’s office counter, £2.45 mn was put in the donation box, while £7.1 mn was received through online deposits into the trust’s accounts. Indians residing abroad deposited £1.04 mn in FCRA account.
