HYDERABAD: The Bharatiya Janata Party will rope in Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and BJP president Amit Shah, to campaign in Telangana in the run up to the 2019 elections.
Speaking at a press conference, state BJP president K Laxman said, “The TRS is shivering after the visit of one leader, our party president Amit Shah. What will happen to it when three leaders campaign in Telangana? Shah will visit Telangana again for six days in September this year. After that, UP CM Adityanath and PM Modi will visit Telangana.” The yogi has proved to be a successful crowd puller for the party, after Modi. The BJP now wants him to woo the south Indian state, after his unprecedented majority in UP.
Party sources said, “Like Modi and Shah, Adityanath will speak only in Hindi, but we expect him to have an impact in Telangana.” Currently, the BJP has 5 assembly seats in the state, and buzz is, it aims to increase it to at least 20 in the coming polls. A source said, “Our aim is to ensure that Adityanath campaigns in the two Telugu states but at present we can confirm only his visit to Telangana.”
