Coimbatore: After chief minister Jayalalithaa's victory in the R.K. Nagar Assembly by-election, political parties of the state have no hope for free and fair elections, as per Pattali Makkal Katchi founder president S Ramadoss. He said his party would seek the removal of Chief Electoral Officer Sandeep Saxena and a petition will be submitted to the Election Commission for its effect. He also dismissed the possibility of an early election in the State saying it was the handiwork of the intelligence sleuths.
He believes Jayalalithaa's victory in the by-election was not a real victory and definitely not a precursor to the ensuing Assembly election. Sandeep Saxena had hurriedly called for elections and rules were not followed favouring the ruling party.
Criticising the State Government for mismanaging the power situation, Ramadoss said the chief minister had promised to make Tamil Nadu a power-surplus state but had only been extending deadlines. And to date, the State remained power deficient, which impacted the growth of industries.
He has asked the state government to reveal the true picture by releasing a white paper on the issue.
