Lanka releases 76 Tamil fishermen

RAMESWARAM (TAMIL NADU): Seventy-six fishermen from Tamil Nadu who were arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy for allegedly fishing in territorial waters, have been ordered to be released by a Lankan court. Among those ordered to be released, 12 are from Rameswaram, six from Mandapam, 46 from Pudukottai, and eight from Nagapattinam. Rameswaram Fishermen's Association President said the fishermen are expected to reach Karaikal in a day or two. Their release coincided with Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj's visit to Colombo.
