Karnataka to elect new Lokayukta on Dec 28

Bengaluru: Karnataka will conduct a meeting of the Selection Committee on December 28 in Bengaluru, to shortlist candidates for the post of the Lokayukta. The post remains vacant since the Justice Y Bhaskar Rao resigned following his son's alleged involvement in a corruption scandal. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said the Selection Committee, which includes himself, the chief justice of the High Court, presiding officers and the Opposition leaders of the legislature, will meet and select the candidates. The list has been sent to the governor who will announce the selected Lokayukta. Justice A M Nayak, former chairman of the Karnataka State Human Rights Commission seems to be the current choice for the post.
