HYDERABAD: K Chandrasekhar Rao, chief of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) took oath as Chief Minister of the state, after being elected back to power on December 11. He was administered the oath of office and secrecy at an “auspicious” time according to the chief priest of the Yadadari temple. KCR has returned for a second term as Chief Minister. He was sworn in by Governor ESL Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan in a simple ceremony, and took oath along with another minister. The rest of his cabinet will be sworn in at a later date. The TRS was elected back to power on December 11, after winning a thumping majority in the Telangana Assembly.

“Chandrababu Naidu came to Telangana saying he wants to work in the interest of Telugu people. I also want to work for Telugu people. If someone gives you a birthday gift, don't you give a return gift? As part of my national outreach, I will work in Andhra Pradesh also,” KCR said.

Meanwhile, KCR has appointed his son KT Rama Rao as the working president of the party. With his focus on national politics now, he has entrusted the key responsibility to KTR, who is seen as number two in the party and the government. The CM has given him the responsibility of taking forward the party in accordance with his plan, according to the Chief Minister's Office. The announcement said that he took the decision with a view to entrust the responsibility of party affairs to a most trusted and efficient person, since he would be preoccupied with the governance activities like expediting construction of irrigation projects and also to implement the electoral promises in letter and spirit.

“CM KCR strongly believes and is confident that the working style, the commitment, the direction and leadership qualities of KTR will help in leading the TRS party efficiently and effectively by him in the days to come,” it said. The TRS chief took the decision a day after taking over as the Chief Minister for a second consecutive term, following his party's landslide victory in Assembly elections. KTR was Minister for Industry and Information Technology in the previous cabinet.
