Former MP's daughter racially abused in Bangalore

Bengaluru: The IT capital of India, Bengaluru, is fast becoming notorious for incidents of racial abuse and assault on people from North-east India. In the latest incident, the fifth in the past three months, the 34-year-old daughter of retired top cop and former Bengaluru North MP H T Sangliana was racially abused and assaulted by two burqa-clad women at a supermarket. Sangliana, who was police commissioner of Bengaluru city, retired as Karnataka Director General of Police in 2003.

After retirement, he joined the BJP and represented Bengaluru North in the 14th Lok Sabha. Later he joined the Congress, but could not retain his seat. The incident occurred recently when the victim, Rachel, who is of Mizo origin and a mother of two, was shopping at a supermarket in Adugodi, south Bengaluru.
