Chennai: A day after the CBI arrested three people in connection with the alleged allotment of more than 300 high-speed telephone lines to his residence in Chennai which were extended to his brother's TV channel, former telecom minister Dayanidhi Maran said that the agency had forced the trio to give false statement against him. The CBI arrested V Gowthaman, the then additional private secretary of Maran, chief technical officer S Kannan and electrician K S Ravi of Sun TV network earlier. "The CBI tortured them and forced them to speak against me. But when they refused, they were arrested," Maran said. "They were also given the promise that if they gave a statement against me, they would be allowed to go free," he said.
