An armed gang hacked to death a Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) functionary during his morning walk in an upscale locality of Madurai. Police said the gang that murdered C Balasubramanian (48) was hired by his relatives over a property dispute as well as matrimonial issues. Six people, including two of the NTK neta’s relatives, have been arrested. Balasubramanian, NTK’s Madurai deputy secy, was a regular morning walker at Vallabhai Street. Police said around 7am a four-member gang wielding sickles started chasing Balasubramanian. He tried to flee raising an alarm, but the gang intercepted him and hacked him repeatedly. The killing of Balasubramanian comes days after murder of BSP state chief K Armstrong in Chennai. Police said there was a property dispute between one Mahalingam and Pandiyarajan, son-in-law of Balasubramanian’s brother.
