10 killed, 15 injured in fire at explosives making factory

TRICHY: Ten people were killed and 15 others injured when fired broke at an explosives making unit at Murugapatti near Trichy. The fire, which was first noticed in one the manufacturing wings of the factory, soon spread to other areas causing panic among people in the surrounding areas. Over three fire fighting units and 10 ambulances were put into service. G Sathyanarayanan, deputy director-in-charge of Fire and Rescue Services, Tamil Nadu, said, after the explosion, the ground and first floors have collapsed and at least 25 fire service personnel worked tirelessly to put the fire under control.
