Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a two-day journey to Gujarat on September 29th and 30th, before elections. He attended several events and inaugurated a few developmental projects. PM Modi visited Surat, Bhavnagar, Ahmedabad, and Ambaji. Apart from that, he participated in the festivities of Navratri. He was accompanied by the Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and other state ministers.
PM Modi had a warm welcome at Surat during his visit for a roadshow from a temporary helipad, where he landed from Surat airport, to the public event venue in Limbayat. Modi laid the foundation stone and dedicated various projects worth more than £340 million in Surat that included the inauguration of Phase- I of road infrastructure works and entrance of Diamond Research and Mercantile (DREAM) City, laid foundation of Phase II of the similar project, Biodiversity Park with a built up area of over 87 hectares from Dr Hedgewar Bridge to Bhimrad-Bamrolli Bridge. He also inaugurated the Khoj Museum at the Science Centre in Surat. He also dedicated city bus and BRTS infrastructure, electric bus infrastructure, heritage restoration, public infrastructure, and joint development projects between the federal and state governments.
The Prime Minister remarked that the pace pf development will only increase in the upcoming years. “The trust that people have in the double-engine government today is a result of this evolution. Sabka Prayas (everyones efforts) accelerates the nation's speed of growth which expands both trust and effort.” the Prime Minister added.
He also participated in a roadshow from Mahila College Circle to Rupani Circle in Bhavnagar. People welcomed the PM Modi by showering rose petals, waving tricolour flags, and chanting Bharat Mata Ki Jay and Vande Mataram. He inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of projects worth over £520 million in Bhavnagar that included Regional Science Centre which is spread over 20 acres and has been built at the cost of around £10 million. He laid the cornerstone of the world’s first CNG terminal and of Brownfield port at Bhavnagar. The PM stated that, “The port will not only lead to economic benefits, in terms of cost saving by handling the cargo, but it can also generate employment in the region.”
Later he visited the Manchester of India (Ahmedabad), where he flagged off the 36th National Games at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The grand opening ceremony was witnessed by over 100,000 spectators. He addressed athletes from across different states who were to participate in the games. He also inaugurated the "Swarnim Gujarat Sports University" in Desar. The landmark project is expected to transform the sports education landscape in the country.
He also flagged off the Gandhinagar-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express along with the Ahmedabad Metro Rail. He also inaugurated Phase-I of Ahmedabad Metro project at a public function at the Ahmedabad Education Society. Following that, he attended the Navaratri celebration at GMDC ground, where he performed maha aarti for Maa Ambe alongside Gujarat's CM, Governor and millions of devotees.
He laid the cornerstone and dedicated various projects worth over £720 million in Ambaji. Thousands of people swarmed the event to cheer PM Modi as he digitally pressed the launch.
He laid the foundation stone of over 45,000 houses built under the PM Awas Yojana, also for Taranga Hill - Ambaji - Abu Road New Broad Gauge Line and development of pilgrimage facilities at Ambaji temple. The new rail line is expected to benefit millions of devotees visiting Ambaji which is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas.
He performed darshan and pooja at Ambaji Temple and later attended Maha Aarti at Gabbar Tirtha.
