LAHORE: A thick, dark blanket of smog has blanketed Punjab, forcing road closures, flight disruptions, and power outages. Road accidents caused by low visibility claimed six lives in 24 hours, and left 40 injured. A chemical reaction that causes air to be significantly polluted and hinders traffic visibility, the smog has also impaired traffic routes and flight schedules. Citizens have also cited health issues, especially the elderly who have been forced to stay indoors as they experience difficulty in breathing, skin and eye irritation, and coughs.
